About This Photo

Christie is one of our more elusive turtles. She was first identified by Big Blue’s Sam Hunt during the special Christmas Day “double turtle bonanza” at Koh Bon, spotted foraging among the rocks alongside Joel.

Unlike Joel, Christie has never been reported to Andaman Turtle Watch again. Perhaps she has migrated to new feeding grounds, moved away to breed, or is simply a master of camouflage, blending into Koh Bon’s reef.

This is exactly why ATW depends on citizen scientists – every photo and sighting helps us unravel the mysteries of the Andaman Sea. With continued monitoring, we hope to learn more about Christie’s journey and better protect turtles like her in the future.
