About Sam
Originally from Cornwall in southwest England. Sam grew up surrounded by the rugged coastline, rolling surf, and chilly waters of Cornwall. This clearly shaped his early connection to the ocean and after plenty of cold water teaching and diving,  his diving journey later took him to Koh Tao. He spent several years here —some of them with Big Blue Koh Tao and the Tech team—teaching recreational courses and developing his expertise in technical diving. In 2024, Sam joined Big Blue Diving Khao Lak, quickly becoming a valued and integral part of the team.

Diving with Sam
Sam is a dedicated and safety-focused instructor, respected for his technical knowledge, calm teaching style, and enthusiasm for the science behind scuba diving. He also brings a strong conservation ethic to his work, with a particular passion for marine protection. A proud supporter of the Andaman Turtle Watch since 2024, Sam is actively involved in Big Blue’s new conservation initiatives—teaching divers not only how to dive safely, but why it’s vital to protect the marine life and ecosystems they explore.

Our Similan Liveaboard Trip Reports

03 – 07 Nov 2025
Trip 3 of the season is back in the books—and despite some spicy forecasts, we juked the worst of the weather and still pulled off a winner, with big smiles and even bigger visibility.
28 Oct – 01 Nov 2025
There’s something truly magical about opening your eyes in the Similans. We woke to gentle seas and a light rain shower passing through Hideaway Bay – but spirits were anything but dampened! Instead, it gave us a peaceful start and plenty of anticipation to get underwater.
