Brilliant diving conditions, some great new profile photos for our guests and Richelieu Rock more alive than ever. Just another week on Big Blue’s Similan Liveaboard.
The best way to sum up this week’s Similan Liveaboard was ‘Fantastic Conditions’. Visibility was consistently crystal clear. This was even true of the ‘Boon Sung’ Wreck dive. The wreck typically has around 10m visibility. This trip it was easily over 20m. This combined with three massive Cobias continually circling the wreck made for an amazing dive. This gave us a great opportunity to get some underwater portrait photos. And then Finally, there was Richelieu Rock…
Up Close and Personal with the Similan Islands
Instructor Ric Parker took some great photos of guests this week. They are a great example of really how close you can get to the Marine life here and see all of these wonderful things for yourself. This trip was full of life and this gave us an opportunity for some great new profile Photos. The Similan Islands often has excellent visibility. This is what gives the lovely clear blue backgrounds.
It really feels like high season is kicking in now. It was a bit wavey at the start of the season. This did have an effect on the visibility. But recently its been perfect. You can see from the photos here that the water has completely settled and it looks amazing.
The final photo is one of Videographer Pru with a couple of guests. Check out some highlights from Pru’s Movie in the section below. Some really artisic Night Dive footage from the Similan Islands. Thank you Pru!

Richelieu Rock
This week Richelieu Rock was beautiful. For the fist time in a while we did 3 dives at Richelieu Rock. Not only was visibility amazing but there were fish everywhere. The Sunset dive in particular was amazing. The schools of Trevally, snapper and Batfish were all encompassing. Everywehere you looked there were fish. Sunset is also a great time to dive as it is often possible to see more hunting action.
All in all we had a great week. Unfortunately no Manta Rays or Whalesharks this week. But never the less some amazing dives. All we need now is for conditions to stay like this for the next four months. But this is definitely a great start to 2015. Here is the final photo from the trip. Thank you to all of our wonderful guests. Please leave us a comment below if you were with us.
It was a great trip Chris, always a pleasure to dive from Hallelujah. Also a nice crowd on board plus familiar faces and old friends to make it even more memorable. As you say, really feels like the high season is kicking in now 🙂
