Similan Liveaboard Trip BB2625

Trip 25 is back on land after 4 really fun days, a solid run of dive sites, and plenty of those “Andaman is on form” moments.

We headed out overnight with the usual pre-trip buzz, and by the early hours we were up at the Similans ready to get wet.

Day 1 – Similans (plus a sunset dive)

Dive 1 – West of Eden (Check dive)

Nice steady start. Mild current, bit of chop through the channel, but underwater was comfortable. We kicked things off with some good reef life straight away and a Napoleon wrasse making an appearance.

Dive 2 – Hideaway Bay (Wreck + drift)

This one was calm and easy. We had an eagle ray cruise past and plenty of reef fish around the wreck and bommies.

Dive 3 – Three Trees (Drift)

A little choppier on the surface, but a good dive. We saw Kuhl’s rays and the site had loads of life around the big features.

Beach visit – Donald Duck Bay (Island 8)

Good chance to stretch the legs and get some sun before the last dive.

Dive 4 – Turtle Rock (Sunset dive)

Really nice way to finish the day. We had a hawksbill turtle, an octopus, and a mantis shrimp tucked in doing its thing.

Day 2 – North Point, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai

Dive 5 – North Point

Great structure and visibility, and the big highlight was a wall of schooling barracuda. Proper Similans vibe.

Dive 6 – Koh Bon West Ridge

Current was up a bit, but that’s Koh Bon. We had squid out in the blue and loads of schooling tang along the ridge.

Dive 7 – Koh Tachai Pinnacle

This was a really good “look closely” dive. We found an ornate ghost pipefish, painted spiny lobsters, and a stonefish.

Dive 8 – Koh Tachai Pinnacle

More current and more action. We had a juvenile batfish, and a lot of hunting and schooling activity around the rocks.

Day 3 – Aow Suthep and Richelieu Rock

Dive 9 – Aow Suthep

Lovely chilled dive. The reef was in great shape and it was just one of those enjoyable, easy drifts with nice colour and fish life.

Dive 10 – Richelieu Rock

Richelieu started strong. We had an ornate ghost pipefish and a seahorse, plus the usual busy fish life everywhere you look.

Dive 11 – Richelieu Rock

Calm conditions and loads going on. We saw another ornate ghost pipefish, a ribbon eel, and cuttlefish.

Dive 12 – Richelieu Rock

Still calm, still delivering. Highlights were African pompano and big schools of barracuda moving around the rock.

Day 4 – Koh Bon wrap-up

Dive 13 – Koh Bon Ridge

Really nice final-day dive. We had schooling barracuda circling the ridge and it just felt like a proper “last day in the Andaman” dive.

Dive 14 – Koh Bon Bay / East Ridge

Great final splash. More barracuda, and we finished with a proper barracuda vortex — a really cool way to end the trip.

All in all, a really solid Trip 25. Good mix of reefs, ridges and pinnacles, plenty of marine life on every dive, and a nice run of conditions to go with it. Thanks to all who attended, it was a pleasure to have led you around our back yard and we hope to see you again sometime in the future!

For now, keep diving and happy bubbles
