Big Blue Marine Biologist, Conservation Manager & Founder/Lead Researcher of Andaman Turtle Watch
Eve is an SSI Divemaster and SSI Turtle Ecology Instructor.
She can teach all SSI Marine Ecology specialty courses and leads Big Blue Diving Khao Lak’s conservation, citizen science and environmental education initiatives.
About Eve
Originally from Leicester in the UK, Eve holds a degree in Zoology from the University of Leeds, including a year studying at Griffith University in Queensland, Australia, where her passion for marine conservation first began. She has since spent more than a decade working in marine conservation, environmental education and wildlife research around the world.
Her career has taken her from sea turtle nesting beaches and rehabilitation centres in Greece; to cetacean research and photo-identification projects in the Canary Islands; community-based conservation programmes in Thailand; and seabird monitoring expeditions along the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia. Throughout her career, she has combined scientific research with environmental education, believing that conservation starts with education and helping people better understand and connect with the natural world.
Having worked across conservation, research, education and sustainable tourism, Eve specialises in bridging the gap between science and public engagement.
In October 2024, Eve founded Andaman Turtle Watch, the first citizen science sea turtle photo-identification project dedicated to the Andaman Sea. Supported by Big Blue Diving Khao Lak and a growing network of conservation, tourism and government partners, the project uses citizen science to monitor sea turtle populations, address key knowledge gaps, and create meaningful opportunities for people to engage with marine conservation.
Today, Eve leads Big Blue’s conservation and education programmes, creating ecology courses, marine wildlife experiences and citizen science opportunities that help people connect with and contribute to marine conservation. She also works closely with schools, universities and local partners to develop meaningful educational experiences both above and below the water.
Diving & Learning with Eve
Eve is passionate about connecting diving with science, conservation and discovery. Whether she’s leading a turtle ecology course, presenting research findings, guiding citizen science dives or helping guests identify individual sea turtles, her goal is always the same: to deepen people’s understanding of the ocean while creating unforgettable experiences beneath the surface.
Big Blue’s conservation experiences are designed around meaningful participation, education and citizen science. The focus is not on making unrealistic promises, but on creating opportunities for guests to learn, contribute valuable data and develop a deeper connection with the marine environment.
Rather than traditional volunteer tourism, Eve’s programmes focus on hands-on learning, meaningful research opportunities, genuine conservation outcomes and long-term community engagement. Through citizen science, ecology training and experiential learning, guests can contribute valuable data, develop new skills and leave with a greater appreciation of the marine environment they have explored.
Whether you’re interested in a one-day turtle ecology course, a conservation-focused liveaboard, a citizen science experience or a longer marine conservation programme, Eve enjoys helping guests discover the fascinating world beneath the surface and find meaningful ways to engage with ocean conservation.
If you’re interested in sea turtles, marine biology, conservation, citizen science or purpose-driven dive experiences, Eve is always happy to chat about how you can get involved.
