Trip 034 Similan Islands

Trip 34 has just returned, our final trip of the 2024 – 2025 Similan diving season.

A great trip all round and albeit with the conditions pending to disrupt our rhythm we ploughed on and made it to all our favourite dive sites for one last time this season.

We started in the north at Torinla Reef and finished in the south at Shark Fin Reef, pretty much covering the whole range of our national parks. Richelieu and Koh Tachai said farewell in some style, and as we headed south we started to feel the weather building. I was glad to be in the Similans with the cover of the islands. The reverse schedule had done its job.

Richelieu gave some of you the largest of goodbyes with a whale shark cruising by, always an awe striking event especially with the backdrop of Richeleiu and the millions of glass fish moving over the top of the rock and in the swell.

Certainly was a very special experience especially for those who had not seen one before, we hope you get many more magical moments underwater like this in the future. The moments we all dive for.

Over the coming weeks we will be posting lots of updates and blogs reviewing both the previous season, but also letting you know what we’ve been up to during the low season, and what we have planned for the future as we look to continue to grow and support our local community and grow the Big Blue family further.

We will do a full end of season Andaman Turtle Watch review, but we can confirm we got two new individuals on this trip, all the info in my next blog.

But for now that’s all folks, another season complete, and Blue Dolphin is off for some well deserved TLC.
