Similan Liveaboard Trip BB027
Trip 27 just returned and what a trip it was.
We welcomed back some familiar faces and welcomed a few new ones to the ever growing Big Blue Crew.
We had hoped to be starting our Big Blue Eco and Shark Project with the release of some juvenile bamboo sharks that had been handed in, sadly with some timing, logistics and finally health issues with some of the sharks, we had to postpone. Happy to report the remaining sharks are doing well down in Krabi and will be released soon.
Day one was a good day in general around the Similans, some nice dives, great weather and a good laugh on board, it was certainly the start of what was going to be a very entertaining trip. The highlight of the day was probably Elephant Head Rock on the whole however for my group we had a great dive at Donald Duck Bay also.
Day Two
As we headed north Koh Bon and the last dive at Koh Tachai treated us to some proper Similan diving. Bon with some great viz and a couple of shark sightings down the end of the ridge, and Tachai giving us a slightly more challenging currenty dive over the pinnacle, but rewarding us with some great schooling fish action.
We all enjoyed a sunset beer on the roof as we headed north to Surin for the night.
Day Three
Waking up in the Surin Islands is always a treat, I start to appreciate it more as the seasons end draws in. We started with a pleasant and gentle drift along the walls of Aow Pakkad, before heading out to Richelieu Rock.
Richelieu was a little moody, with some currents and colder spots, but never disappoints in terms of mass of fish around the site. A cracking day on the rock, followed by a great evening on board, will go down long in the memory as a bloody good day all round.
Day Four
Couple of great dives at Koh Bon, the Pinnacle for dive one was in fine form, a really cracker of a dive when the conditions are like that, especially when you get the barracuda moving the way the where, it’s a fave all round.
Big thanks to Chris from divehappy.com, Megmi and Yua for the awesome underwater images we’ve featured all over this report 🙂
Just a last thank you to you all for joining us, we hope you had a great time and hope to see you all again really soon. I know some of you have already planned trips, we are looking forward to them already.
Last but not least,
We have had news that some of the sharks will be ready for release in the coming days, if you are interested in being involved with this, shoot us a message and we will add you to our shark support list and keep you updated with the progress and development of the project.
Cheers and Big Love , Boots and the BB team. x
