Trip 010 Similan Islands

Trip Ten has returned to land with all customers and staff unscathed (at least physically) and what a fantastic 4 days we had in the Similan Islands. Thanks to our lovely customers and our awesome crew for making this trip a pleasure to have led.

Day one kicked us off with a lovely dive over the tuna wreck and up in to Hideaway Bay, with sightings of turtles, octopus and Peacock Mantis Shrimp setting us up. Elephant Head rock showed us some ribbon eels, some epic scenery and that enormous moray eel. A cheeky turtle at 3 trees and a huge barracuda left Jochem thirsty for a beer and the rest of us thirsty for a lovely night dive at Turtle Rock, hunting out crustaceans and eels aplenty.

Day two and dive one some groups saw a white tip shark and some really nice conditions at Christmas Point where we were very lucky to get excellent visibility and very little current. More octopus sightings at Koh Bon but also a lot of other boats, so we were delighted to get to Tachai to find it much quieter there and encountered the enormous school of barracuda. And a very very chill second dive there with an eagle relay making an appearance. Also Jochem managed to resist the beer fridge all day, an excellent achievement sir, well done. We won’t mention Kate’s weight belt though :D

A very uncommon sighting of a family of bump-head parrot fish kicked off day three, and we were off to Richelieu with calm seas, spirits high a lock on the door of the beer fridge. The rock did not disappoint with excellent conditions, a frogfish sighting, and a lovely cuttlefish right at the end.

Two dives at Koh Bon on the last day yielded a very uncommon flatworm sighting and some cool barracuda on the last dive.
