Similan Liveaboard Trip Trip 017
Trip 17..
First trip back on the boat for me in a little while and I can honestly say I couldn’t have wished for a nicer group of people to share it with. From night one we could see the group forming into a fun loving, really good crowd.
Day One, the diving started with a great dive at West of Eden. Gentle current, great viz and of course a leopard shark sighting. We spent the rest of the day at Chinese Wall, a dive site we rarely dive but maybe we should do more, dramatic topography and plenty of life over the wall and lots of nudi’s ( thanks Ciara). After this we moved north to Three Trees and finished up in Donald Duck Bay, with another leopard shark and a little green turtle and a napoleon wrasse to finish our day off nicely.
Day Two, Christmas Point, Koh Bon and Koh Tachai. Koh Bon was a nice dive with some serious octopus action on the north side, lots of fish over the ridge but I have to say Koh Tachai was the highlight I think. It’s always a favourite of mine just to hang out amongst the schooling fish above the dome of Tachai. As we cruised north to Surin we were treated to a beautiful sunset, shared as the group over dinner was a pretty special way to finish a great day on the boat.
Day Three, Aow Pakkad started very clear but became a bit green very quickly. If I’m being honest i had a little trepidation heading out to Richelieu Rock in case of more green water, however Richelieu treated us very well over the three dives there. Dive Three in particular for me, the amount of life inside the horseshoe is exactly why we dive there, truly “fish Soup”..
Day Four, Koh Bon Pinnacle, a little bit of a work out, but always worth a go. The Pinnacle was very still and as we made our way round we could see down to the bottom. A few large tuna cruising around and moving glass fish made for a very pretty start to the day. We finished with the bay and the ridge. A very pleasant dive, although a little busy towards the end. A large Marble ray and more octopus action before we drifted off the ridge for our final pick up..
I want to finish by saying a huge thank you for joining us, I hope we see you all again one day back on board Blue Dolphin. And last but most certainly not least,
Congratulations to Thi and Kat on their certs, Thi completing her AOW and Nitrox, and Kat also completing her Nitrox.
Best wishes to Takeshi, Takeshi and Teruaki. Thank you for sharing your birthday and dive anniversary celebrations with us, another great evening on the boat.
Thank you for sharing some of your amazing photos with us too.
Keep in touch,
Big Love, Boots and the Blue Dolphin team.
