A little bit about me
Like so many people I got my Open Water Cert on my gap year between high school and university and decided that I wanted to be a scuba diver when I grew up! Heading back to England after the time in Thailand and Australia I discovered that diving didn’t excite me quite so much in a quarry in the Lake District so I quickly gave up my new hobby! After trying a proper job wearing a suit I ran away to Australia where no one could ever put me in a suit again. In Australia I rediscovered my love for the ocean and scuba diving. I decided that that was where I wanted to spend my time. I travelled to Koh Tao to complete the 6 week Divemaster course then was going to head back to oz to work….that was nearly 5 years ago and I haven’t made it yet!
I really love all things fishy and ocean related and truly believe Thailand is the best place in the world to live! I now have best job in the world (if I do say so myself) I work on the liveaboard and on the speedboat and when I’m not fast enough and they manage to tie me to the desk, the shop.
To see as many fish as possible! I have been massively lucky to travel to many amazing places and see some truly mind-blowing things…but there’s always more to see! I think the best thing about this job is that every day is a school day, every day we see new things and learn about more cool critters.
I would like one day to own my own boat and sail it around the world diving as I go. I would take a few guests to cover expenses….and drop them off and pick up new ones as we go. In my calculations to get the boat I’m dreaming of its only going to take me 45,706 years to save for it, so if any one is a secret millionaire I am taking donations!
As I have some time to wait until I can buy my boat my immediate goal is to give passion to and educate as many people as possible to how incredible the ocean around us is. I think the more people who understand the strength yet amazing fragility of the ocean the better we can protect it.
