At 27 meters in length, the MV Blue Dolphin with her steel hull construction makes for a safe and smooth ride throughout your trip.

Our Standards
Safety is highest priority on our Similan Liveaboard. MV Blue Dolphin Liveaboard staff have years of experience diving in the area and up to date first aid and O2 certifications.
All our equipment receives regular maintenance checks and is serviced by our in house technicians.

THE DINING
What makes a Similan liveaboard such great value is that food and accommodation are included. Food on the MV Blue Dolphin is delicious and plentiful. Our two cooks, Anne and Rat, are probably the kindest people on the boat. They take pride in their work and are more than happy accommodate any food requirements or preferences.
The MV Blue Dolphin features indoor and outdoor eating areas. The excellent food prepared by our experienced chefs will ensure your meals are as good as your dives. Enjoy a light breakfast of cereal, fruit and toast before the first dive. The bigger buffet breakfast will be waiting for you when you return. A buffet lunch is served after dive two, a tasty snack after dive three and a variety of dishes served for dinner after dive four.
THE DIVE CREW
Big Blue has been offering the highest standards of diving in Thailand since 1991, and the MV Blue Dolphin Liveaboard only furthers this reputation for quality service.
Our multi-lingual staff on board are able to speak English, French, German, Thai and Japanese. If you have language requirements beyond these, we can accommodate any requests.
All of our staff have years of experience in the Similans and even longer track records for keeping divers safe and happy season after season. Dive groups are a maximum of 4 people (unless larger groups request to dive together). Your gear is washed and your tanks are filled for you by our highly trained staff. The only thing you have to do on board the MV Blue Dolphin is to dive and relax.
SIMILAN DIVING
The MV Blue Dolphin’s large dive deck gives you plenty of room to set up. Standard and DIN tanks are available. Our on board EanX system allows Nitrox certified divers to extend their bottom times with enriched air. For those not Nitrox certified, we offer Nitrox certification on board. CCR and sidemount divers are well catered for, however you’re set up. All staff and crew are well trained in handling equipment and understand the different styles of diving. We can even have tanks waiting for you in the dinghies if you like.
The MV Blue Dolphin Liveaboard is “well equipped for photographers”. We have a custom designed camera table and set up area, large fresh water tanks, and a dedicated charging area.
MV BLUE DOLPHIN TRIP LEADERS
With a maximum of 4 divers per group, and up to 16 guests, there may be 5 to 7 dive staff on board the MV Blue Dolphin Liveaboard.
Other than the Captain, the most important job on The MV Blue Dolphin Liveaboard is that of the trip leader. Big Blue Diving Khao Lak have two full time trip leaders. They are responsible for the schedule, organizing the dive groups, communication with the Thai crew and generally making sure you are having a great time. Therefore, its good to know that during your stay on the MV Blue Dolphin Liveabaord, you will be in safe hands…
RIC PARKER
Ric Parker, from Blackpool, England has been running Myanmar and Similan Liveaboards since 2005, working on various vessels before joining Big Blue in 2009. As well as extensive knowledge of the Similan Islands National Park and Richelieu Rock, he is also considered one of the leading authorities on diving the more remote Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar.
One of Ric’s main passions is diving with Giant manta rays which are encountered at Koh Bon and Koh Tachai each season between January and April. As an active volunteer and manager of the Marine Megafauna Foundation’s Manta Ray Program, he has plenty of interesting facts about local Manta populations and regularly holds Manta presentations and photographic Manta identification workshops on board MV Blue Dolphin.
STEVE BOOT
Steve Boot, from Stoke-on-Trent England has been with Big Blue since 2015, before coming trip leader in 2018. Steve left Stoke-on-Trent for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly when he was 17, where his love for the ocean truly begun. Being on, in or under the water is where he is happiest. A keen conservationist, Steve is passionate about protecting the oceans and all its inhabitants, from the giant manta rays to the coral reefs.
Steve loves nothing more than being in the water and observing the underwater world and all it has to offer. Always open to talk about what you may have seen, what is happening in Similan and Surin national parks and share his knowledge of the area in particular the dive sites.
PLAN YOUR SIMILAN ISLANDS LIVEABOARD TRIP
Four days on a boat can seem like a lot to commit to, especially if its your first time on a diving liveaboard. Rest assured that there is very little else that you will need to bring with you. But for that extra piece of mind, take a look at some helpful hints to help you plan your diving adventure.

RATES ARE PER PERSON
MV Blue Dolphin Liveaboard rates are based on double occupancy. If we need to combine solo travellers in standard cabins, we will only do same sex pairings for reasons of privacy. If you require a personal cabin get in touch with us for great single occupancy offers.
MARINE PARK FEES
Every person is required to pay marine park fees in Thai Baht to enter the Similan Islands. For divers this is 2,300฿ per person.

DIVING EQUIPMENT
If you require rental equipment then please let us know you sizes. A full set of rental equipment is available for 600฿ per day, or free with any diving courses. You can order new equipment from our online store and have it ready upon your arrival.

With the exception of alcohol, souvenirs and tips, everything else on the MV Blue Dolphin is included.
